Aggregates are a broad range of materials used in construction including sand, gravel, crushed stone, and recycled concrete. The first step in producing crushed stone is to blast the quarry rock walls using dynamite. This results boulder-sized rocks. These large rocks are transported to the crusher using haul trucks. The plant takes the crushed stone on conveyor belts to different areas of the quarry to be separated into specific sizes. Crushed stone is sold by size to customers or Tilcon’s asphalt plant.
